Protecting Personal Data is a responsibility that every public and private organisation must take seriously. The Data Protection Act 2001 clearly spells out the importance of this responsibility.
Following the Data Protection Act which was passed in 2001, government requested STC to come up with a programme covering the fundamentals of Data Protection and issues that would be of concern to the various departments.
Following various discussions with Government officials and research carried out by STC consultants, STC designed a full day, Data Protection Awareness Workshop to meet government's need. The workshop covered issues such as processing personal data, the role of the Data Protection Commissioner, the impact of the Data Protection Act on business processes, rights of the 'data subject' and appointing a Data Controller in the organization. All Permanent Secretaries, Directors General, Directors and Assistant Directors participated in this Data Protection Awareness Workshop.
The Data Protection Awareness Workshop is the first in a line of Data Protection related training events to be designed and delivered by STC to both the Private and Public Sector.
